Illinois and New York (Ella n' Sarah), referenced from a 1912 French fashion print. which I think is public domain; if not feel free to yell at me
a.) I have got to work on consistency when drawing NY, even when she changes her hairstyle every other week.
trying to emulate a different style is no excuse for inconsistency in color
b.) I don't think I've ever drawn these guys not wearing some variation of red, white, and blue. haha. Maybe it's a 4th of July gala or suffragette convention or something, idk. That seems like a very 1912-y thing to do.
c.) I have no idea what they're talking about, but New York seems quite amused.
d.) I adore outfits from this period. I wish I could wear one of those hats in public and get away with it.

I love that you mention their relationship! I find it so fascinating but people
seem to ignore it which I don't understand since they have a lot of history between them.
